summer fun jar

At the moment I am printing the various ideas I got from Pinterest and our very own play room that I have collected and will be putting into a jar, our Summer Fun Jar. When Laurel is asleep or much boredom abounds, we will draw from the jar and have at it!
  • Play CandyLand
  • Play the Thomas memory game
  • Play the Airplane memory game
  • Play UNO
  • Play with beans (our sensory bin)
  • Make cookies
  • Make cupcakes
  • Go to the airplane park
  • Make play-doh
  • Play with play-doh
  • Fingerpaint
  • Paint with cars (we love love love this)
  • Paint with marbles
  • Papertowel tube painting
  • Practice our ABCs
  • Make bird feeders (with toilet paper rolls, peanut butter, and bird seed)
  • Swing! (we just go a backyard swing set ;-)
  • Make towers with toothpicks and marshmallows
  • Paint with Qtips
  • Macaroni necklaces
  • Macaroni paintings
  • Take a bath with glow sticks
  • Make volcanoes (using old play-doh, baking soda, and vinegar)
  • Pick an animal and learn all about it
  • Lava floor – don’t touch the floor to survive! (using pillows, blankets, etc., as "safe" zones)
  • Draw on balloons
  • Write letters to Grandmas
  • Play with spray bottles outdoors
  • Try on funny hats and take pictures
  • Catch bugs in a jar in the backyard
  • Footprints with paint
  • Open junk mail (I read somewhere this is good for fine motor skills!)
  • Sidewalk chalk on the driveway
  • Cut a magazine with scissors
  • Make paper plate rainbows (art project using crayons and cotton balls)
  • Play paper plate tennis with a balloon
  • Play “will it sink or will it float” ?
  • Candy experiments – melt starbursts
  • Candy creations – make houses or cars with candy and graham crackers
  • Make a fort and read books
  • Read books in the fire engine (this "pop up" play hut we have)
  • Build towers with blocks – tall tall tall tall tall
  • Go to the library
  • Throw bean bags into boxes (or knock down cup towers)
  • Play with stickers
  • Play with the sticker books
  • Make and throw water balloons
  • Fly a kite
  • Make ramps for cars to race
  • ABC clank game – use a big jar and put the magnet letters in and clank around
  • Food colored vinegar and baking soda in a cake pan
  • Make a collage with magazine pictures
  • Throw the Frisbee outside
  • Soccer in the backyard
  • Play hockey
  • Play with the musical instruments
  • Look at pictures on the computer
  • Thomas puzzles
  • Trace our hands, cut them out, and decorate
  • Blow bubbles

  • Color hunt – pick and color and find stuff all around the house of that color
  • Make “constellations” with star stickers on black paper and chalk
  • Wash the car!
  • Line matchbox cars up all over the house or make a parking lot
  • Make a big long railroad
